Lightweight network device detection script. Discover connected devices, detect rogue endpoints, and maintain a device inventory — no expensive NAC licensing required. Runs on any Linux machine with Python.
Scans local subnets using ARP requests to discover active devices by IP and MAC address. No agent required.
ICMP ping sweep across configurable IP ranges. Detects responsive hosts and maps network topology.
Optional SNMP walk to query switch ARP tables and CDP/LLDP neighbours for switch-level device detection.
Compare discovered devices against an allowlist of known MAC addresses. Flags unknowns for review.
Outputs device inventory as CSV or JSON — MAC, IP, vendor, hostname, first/last seen, and port.
Open source. No licenses, no subscriptions, no feature gates. Use it anywhere, including production banking networks.
